Composition Competition

Delta Omicron's Triennial Composition Competition for 2025, for Bb/A clarinet and piano, has been announced! Composers of any nationality age 18+ may apply, with a submission deadline of July 1, 2024. For further information, please see the links below.

With Delta Omicron's First Annual Composition Contest hosted internationally in 1944 (a grand step up from smaller competitions offered to Fraternity members as early as 1920) and winning works presented at Triennial Conferences starting in 1953, this is one of the oldest and most respected composition contests in the world, honored with the Outstanding Professional Program Award by the Professional Fraternity Association in 2006 in recognition of its long history and international scope.

The 2022 Composition Competition, won by Night Songs III by David Hamilton of New Zealand, drew entries from 11 states and 4 countries. The world premiere of the current competition’s winning work will be presented in a special concert at the Delta Omicron Triennial Conference in July 2025.
