Delta Omicron Members Receive Awards From the Professional Fraternity Association

The Professional Fraternity Association (PFA) at its annual conference recognizes and honors members of the member fraternities through its annual awards program.  This year Delta Omicron members received awards in the categories of Faculty Award of Excellence and Volunteer of the Year.   The winners were Dr. Betty Campbell and Lani Yearicks.

betty campbellDr. Betty Campbell was the recipient of the Faculty Award of Excellence. Dr. Betty is a life member of Delta Omicron and has served the fraternity nationally as Conference Accompanist, Conference Song Leader, and as National Music Adviser on the Board of Directors. She has been Chapter Adviser to Delta Psi Chapter at Judson College in Marion, Alabama for over thirty years.  Through her guidance and mentoring, the chapter has excelled as one of Delta Omicron’s top functioning chapters.  Through her guidance, the chapter maintains financial stability and she takes a personal interest in each chapter member. Her management style lets the chapter members work through problems and activities on their own, but she is there to provide guidance, listen, and assist with problems when needed.  She sets a high standard on professionalism and respect for each other among the chapter members.  Dr. Betty exemplifies the best qualities of an excellent Chapter Adviser.

Lani was initiated into Delta Iota Chapter at Central Michigan University.  She has served as the National Editor of The Whistle since 2003. What makes her truly special is that she kept this commitment while being a part of the U.S. Army.    She has balanced working on the newsletter, her family, and a performance career with the U.S. Army Bands.  While she has been Editor, she has been stationed at several U.S Army bases and was deployed for tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.  She could have resigned her position, but she chose to continue the work on the newsletter while being in Afghanistan and Iraq.   We are very proud of Lani’s service to our country and fraternity.  She exemplifies Delta Omicron’s purposes and objectives of character, leadership, professional conduct, and service.

Delta Omicron congratulates both Dr. Betty Campbell and Lani Yearicks on receiving these awards.
