Florida Delta Omicron State Day

Florida alumni and collegiate Delta Omicron members gathered at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida to celebrate Florida Delta Omicron State Day on Saturday, March 31, 2007. Lakeland is the home of Alpha Phi Chapter. The chapter members assisted Province President Brenda Dannewitz in the planning of the event.

At 5:30 p.m., Alpha Phi members and prospective members, Chapter Adviser Diane Stahl, Chapter Patron Robert McDonald, and Florida alumni enjoyed an hors d’oeurve reception. It was a wonderful time of fellowship between collegians and alumni.

A State Day Musicale followed the reception with Alpha Phi members performing. The program included performances by flutist Shalya Brian, soprano Katherine Smith, and mezzo-soprano Katei Engle. Soprano Kerin Engle performed her original composition Eurydice. Chapter Patron Robert McDonald performed piano selections from Debussy’s Claire de Lune and his own arrangement of Porgy and Bess selections. Chapter Adviser and soprano Diane Stahl concluded the program with “Embraceable You” arranged and accompanied by Robert McDonald.

Following the Musicale, twelve new members of Alpha Phi were initiated into Delta Omicron. Alumni enjoyed participating in a fraternity initiation again. Alpha Phi is congratulated for their willingness to host this State Day.
