The Board of Directors is pleased to announce
that Molly Carlson and Kimberly Martin-Boyd served as Conference
Co-Chairs for 2009.
Molly Carlson is National Director
of Alumni-At-Large for Delta Omicron and was Delta Omicron Conference
Co-Chair for the 2006 Triennial Conference. A French hornist, Molly
joined the Omicron Omega Chapter at Illinois State University in
1997 and served as Chapter President from 1998-99. She graduated
Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music degree from Illinois State
University. She then started her career at Northwestern University’s
School of Music where she worked as Associate Director of Concert
Activities and as Assistant Director of Music Admissions and Financial
Aid. While at Northwestern, Molly earned a Master of Science in
Education degree with a specialization in Higher Education Administration.
In 2004, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin to take a job as Assistant
Director of the School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In September 2008, Molly moved to Dallas, Texas where her husband
Mark now teaches at the college level. Currently, she is finishing
a Ph.D. dissertation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, acting
as a consultant for several musicians, and caring for her eight-month-old
daughter.
Kimberly Martin-Boyd also will
serve as Conference Co-Chair. A native of Norma, Illinois, Kimberly
served as Conference Co-Chair at the Delta Omicron’s 2006 Conference.
Kimberly holds two degrees from Illinois State University: a bachelor
degree in music education with an instrumental emphasis and a Masters
in Music Education with a Jazz/String Pedagogy emphasis. She is
currently pursuing a third degree in Educational Administration.
At Illinois State, she was an active member of
Omicron Omega Chapter, serving as fund-raising chair, treasurer,
and president. Kimberly has taught orchestra in several schools
in Central Illinois and is currently employed with Unit 5 Schools
in Normal. Within the schools Kimberly holds many positions such
as Wellness Chair, Instrumental Recruitment Team member, and Building
Leadership Team member. She maintains a private string studio primarily
of cellists. Kimberly remains active in Delta Omicron, serving in
the past as Alpha Central Province President and Epsilon Beta (Eureka
College) Chapter Adviser. Currently she is Delta Province President,
overseeing Sigma and Omicron Omega Collegiate Chapters and the alumni
groups Zeta Eta Chapter and the Champaign-Urbana Alumni Club.
Kimberly is the proud wife of Chad Boyd, a customer
service manager for Centec Systems in Bloomington. They welcomed
their first child, son Killian Michael Boyd, in December 2004, and
a second boy, Cohen Wyler Boyd, joined the family in June of 2008.
Besides time with her family, Kimberly enjoys scrap-booking and
performing with her string quartet, The Topaz String Quartet.
