Procedures for Application || The Scholarships


The Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity is pleased to announce the Summer Music Scholarships to be awarded this year. All applicants must be Delta Omicron members in good standing, having paid national dues for the current year or be a paid Life Member.
 

 

Procedures for Application:

  • Request information and an application form from the institution of your interest and apply. In the case of Brevard, indicate on your application that you have applied for a Delta Omicron Summer Scholarship.


  • Summer Scholarships can only be used for short-term, non-credit summer workshops or camps. These may be located in the USA or internationally. The scholarships cannot be used for graduate or undergraduate for-credit study, or for-credit study abroad.


  • Please complete the Delta Omicron Summer Music Scholarship application form in duplicate for EACH scholarship for which you are applying. For example, if you are applying for three scholarships, submit three originals and three copies. Typed applications are preferred; however, legibly hand printed applications will be accepted. Applications must be signed and dated. Incomplete and/or unreadable applications will be disqualified.


  • Click here for a copy of the Summer Scholarship Application Form. Saving the form to your hard drive as a Text file will produce a form for typing the application.

    Please do not send letters of recommendation, resumes or tapes unless requested. All materials submitted become the property of Delta Omicron.

    Application deadline is April 2, 2009. Applications must be postmarked by that date. Winners will be notified via letter by May 31, 2009

Requirements: For study in the College Division only. A tape is required by Brevard. The applicant should indicate that application has been made for the Delta Omicron Scholarship upon submission of tape. College credit may be arranged through Converse College.

Scholarship: Mabel Dunn Hopkins Memorial Scholarship
Use: A music education summer workshop of the recipient's choice
Stipend: Up to $400 as needed
Course of Study: Music Education
Requirements: For collegiate or alumni study. (Not to be used for regular summer school)

Scholarship: Hazel Wilson Bowsman Memorial Scholarship
Use: For summer study at an institute of the recipient's choice
Stipend: Up to $400 as needed
Course of Study: Any field of music
Requirements: For collegiate or alumni study (not to be used for regular summer school)

Scholarship: Mae Chenoweth Grannis Memorial Scholarship
Use: For summer study at an institute of the recipient's choice
Stipend: Up to $400 as needed
Course of Study: Any field of music
Requirements: For collegiate or alumni study (not to be used for regular summer school)

Scholarship: Delta Omicron Open Scholarship (Not available in 2009)
Use: For study, such as a workshop of the recipient's choice
Stipend: Up to $400 as needed
Course of study: Preferably strings
Requirements: For collegiate or alumni study. (Not to be used for regular summer school)

Scholarship: Jane Wiley Kuckuk Open Scholarship (Not available in 2009)
Use: For study, such as a workshop of the recipient's choice
Stipend: Up to $400 as needed
Course of study: Any field of music
Requirements: For collegiate or alumni study. (Not to be used for regular summer school)

Scholarship: Dr. Kay Calfee Wideman Scholarship (Not available in 2009)
Use: For study, such as a workshop of the recipient's choice
Stipend: Up to $400 as needed
Course of study: Voice
Requirements: For collegiate or alumni study. (Not to be used for regular summer school)

Scholarship: Ann Anthony Jones Choral/Vocal Scholarship (Not available in 2009)
Donated by Lily Nehman in her honor.
Use: For study, such as a workshop of the recipient's choice
Stipend: Up to $400 as needed
Course of Study: Choral or Vocal
Requirements: For collegiate or alumni study (not to be used for regular summer school).
