Zeta Delta Alumni Chapter was installed on January 13, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On January 13, 2007, the chapter celebrated its 80th Anniversary with a Founders Day Dinner at the home of Beverly Flechsig. The evening began with a potluck dinner, followed by the presentation of a large 80th Anniversary cake and the singing of “Happy Birthday” by all members and guests. Zeta Delta’s collegiate scholarship winners from Alpha Alpha and Omicron Phi entertained the chapter with a musicale. Zachary Larson performed Fifteen Entertaining Etudes by F.T. Blatt on alto saxophone, and Kenneth MacMillan performed Romance Opus 35, No. 6 by Guilier on French horn. President Judith Holterman presented a $500 scholarship award to each winner. Ducie Schoner and Beverly Lechsig provided background music on duo pianos while everyone visited with one another. In attendance at the celebration was Professor Jon Welstead of the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. |

fraternities: Delta Omicron, Mu Phi Epsilon and Sigma Alpha Iota. This has become a treasured tradition in Dayton, Ohio. Zeta Chi service projects are well known among retirement homes in the Dayton area. Our members present a program at Lincoln Park, Friendship Village, and Trinity Home each year. It is extremely gratifying to spread the joy of music. In 1986, thirty pounds of Christmas cards were sent to a Korean orphanage. The mother of a dear D.O., Mrs. Oh, was the director of the orphanage. In addition the chapter has sent music around the world through “Musician to Musician.” Scholarship auditions are held each spring for students of Zeta Chi members. Some winners have made a name for themselves in the field of music, either as performers or teachers. The chapter also has supported the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dayton Opera, and the Culture Works. Members remain active in the Dayton Music Club, American Guild of Organists, University faculties, Philharmonic Orchestra, public school teachers, etc. Over the years friendships have grown and strengthened, and chapter members are indeed “sisters” in Delta Omicron. |
