A Message from the President . . . Alumni - We need your help! Over the past few years, Delta Omicron has lost contact with many of its alumni members. As people graduate or as they change jobs and move, too often address changes are not sent to our Executive Office. After a while, we have no way of tracking those alumni any more. We want to reinvigorate our alumni program. The first step has to be better communication with our alumni. So we need your help in four ways: Finding Lost Members: If you know of D.O. members who are no longer receiving mailings from us, please send us their new address or ask them to do so. And of course, if you are moving, keep your address information updated with us. Send those to the Delta Omicron Executive Office, Box 752, Jefferson City, Tennessee 37760, or email them to Julie Wright at DOExecSec@aol.com. By keeping membership dues current annually or through purchase of a life membership, you will receive The WHEEL if your mailing address is current. Alumni Network: We are working to establish an online network among our alumni using our state alumni chairs. The Director of Alumni-At-Large Molly Carlson is working with our current state chairs to establish a Delta Omicron Yahoo Group Networking System online. D.O. alumni will be able to communicate via the internet with our state chairs. State newsletters will be sent out via this system. To assist with this networking development, we need (1) alumni members to contact their state chairs to provide current email addresses at which they can be reached, and (2) we need alumni to volunteer to serve as state chairs. A list of current state chairs is included with this issue of The Whistle along with their contact information. The list also indicates states in which chairs are still needed. If you are a person who likes to interact with others and feel comfortable using the internet, please volunteer to help Molly Carlson establish this alumni network. Using the Delta Omicron Website: Alumni members can keep updated on Delta Omicron news by simply checking our website www.delta-omicron.org periodically. The Whistle is published there annually, and archived issues also are available there. The website reports news on new chapters, national patrons and honorary members, as well as award, scholarship, and grant news. It provides direct links to our official jeweler Herff-Jones if you want to order fraternity jewelry, to our official line of fraternity clothing through Regent Promotions, and to the Delta Omicron Foundation, Inc. Tell Us About You: We are eager to publish the accomplishments of our alumni members through The Whistle. Editor Lani Yearicks wants your information and photos for each issue. Information may be sent to her by email at armytbonegirl@hotmail.com. We encourage you to share your professional activities and accomplishments with other fraternity members. Delta Omicron needs the talents and support of all of our alumni. You are important to us. Let’s keep in touch! Best wishes in Delta Omicron, Dr. Jonny H. Ramsey International President |
