Alumni Attend Conference 2009 - Photo Memories

(continued from page 8)

On Friday, alumni participated in the panel discussion on alumni chapter membership issues, and the Past National Officers Club met with the Foundation Trustees.  Alumni members Ann Jones, Michelle Worthing, Jennifer Klafeta, Gladys Zate, Carol Anne Koehl, and Sara Skok served as session leaders during Friday’s educational sessions.

On Saturday, the delegation was treated to educational sessions by alumni member Joan Frey Boytim.  The Premiere Concert featured alumni member Desiree Baxter as the mezzo-soprano for the 2006 Triennial Composition Songs for Emmy by Dr. Jay Anthony Gach.  Following the concert, Dr. Gach and Dr. Marshall Onofrio, the composer for the Foundation’s Thor Johnson Commission, were inducted as National Patrons.  The Composition Competition Chair Judith Eidson and Foundation President Kay Wideman assisted with the induction ceremony.

That evening at the Rose and Gray Banquet Judith Eidson received the Alumni Achievement Award, and the WHEEL of Delta Omicron was presented to Dorothy Bushing, for her years of work on the Delta Omicron Songbook.  The Board of Directors presented award plaques to out-going Board members Carol Anne Koehl, Claudia Grayson, and Gladys L. Zate who have served Delta Omicron on the board for ten years.  The evening closed with an outstanding performance by alumni pianist Mary Fahrenbruck, the 2006 Conference Artist.

Following the Lily-of-the Valley Breakfast commemorating departed D.O. members, the Mock Initiation, and Ecumenical Service, the new Board of Directors were installed by Past President Ann Jones.  Newly-elected Board members include Dr. Jonny H. Ramsey as International President, Nancy Meyette as First Vice President, Mary Chisholm as Second Vice President, Dr. Robert Lindahl as National Music Adviser, and Janet Gross as Editor of The WHEEL.  They are joined by Board appointees Jennifer Klafeta as National Treasurer and Julie H. Wright as Executive Secretary.

The Conference closed with an impromptu sing-along of Delta Omicron songs, a wonderful co-mingling of voices of collegiate and alumni members led by Song Leader Mitch Ruth.

Other alumni members also contributed to the success of the conference.  Mary Selk and the Zeta Eta Chapter coordinated the Silent Auction that garnered almost $2000 for the Endowment Fund. Judy Kirby served as the Conference Parliamentarian; Diane Ruth offered devotionals and led the Ecumenical Service; Carolyn Horrell served as the Conference Recording Secretary.  Molly Carlson and Kimberly Martin-Boyd were outstanding Conference Co-Chairs.

Thanks, alumni, for helping to make the 2006 Triennial Conference a success.  Let us all make plans to attend our Centennial Conference in 2009!
